ME’D1.ATE Network presents TRIPPED WIRE, a showcase of artists and musicians on the cutting edges of music. It is the third installment of the Soundwave>Series, a collection of live events celebrating the possibilities of sound, language and music that also surround the new CD release of Project>Soundwave: An Exploration into the Nature of Sound.

The Drift!
Local innovators The Drift! pushes the notion of genre music with a range of influences from Dub, Afro-Beat, No Wave, Out Jazz and Experimental leanings in the ambient realm. The Drift! is a project by Bay Area artists whose other bands range from Jazz, Country Swing, Experimental, Post Hardcore, Ambient, Progressive and Americana: upright-bass (Safa Shokrai: Downtown Uproar, Hokum4), guitar/keys (Danny Grody: Tarentel, Furniture), trumpet with effects/loops (Jeff Jacobs: Hokusai) and drums (Richard Dougherty: Jargon, Boxcar Saints, Odessa Chen). Their performances and have been compared to everything from Miles Davis 'electric period' to the disparate Tom Verlaine of Television. Their new EP is due out in late Spring under the Temporary Residence label. San Francisco, CA

GroundChuck

GroundChuck is a pulverized cow, fur bearing mammal, soundscapes and interludes that aim at reframing consciousness and creating thought patterns that transform and inspire. GroundChuck is Charles Freeman, an electronic music artist whose musical journeys led him to work with the piano, saxophone, guitar, turntablism and finally the digital audio workstation. His debut CD is set to be released later this year by Belgian label Quatermass. San Francisco, CA.

 

Neal Morgan
Neal makes songs for fields (lawns, meadows, etc.) and provides the music, either in recorded form or in performance, for the viewing of the photographs or videos of fields he has visited. He is interested in meditation on a field as a compositional element and how the resulting emotions and thoughts influence a listener’s experience of sounds. Berkeley, CA. www.warmfields.com

 

 

Tim Gallaher
Tim is a mixed-media performance artist whose primary mediums are music and film. He creates musical cinematic narratives with his songs, vocals and projected imagery which include spoken word and absurd puppetry antics. His work is a form of inquiry and an attempt at sharing personal truths - turning fascinations and philosophies into an adventure, gift and ultimately a love affair. San Francisco CA

Using recordings of escalators around Vienna, thom poe’s composition blurs the boundaries between an escalator and a musical concert. An experiment in found sound, music, noise and the everyday auditory environment, Concert attempts to reawaken the senses of everyday life, recreating sensitivity to the familiar while giving the listener a different perspective of seeing and hearing.
